Audio Editing Software
Audio editing software enables users to record and edit sounds available for multiple operating systems (e.g., Windows, Mac). Audio software like Audacity can be used to record live audio and edit a variety of audio files including MP3, WAV or AIFF sound files. It can also be used to remove background noises and add many built-in audio effects.
A number of audio editing software programs are available including Sound Recorder for Windows and Garage Band for Mac. Open source software Audacity offers teachers and students a free and easy-to-use tool to record their own voices and sound effects to incoprorate into their projects, including podcasts and digital storybooks. The basic operation of the software is simple enough that even young children can use it to record examples of their reading or to share their understanding beyond what they could in writing.
