Google Earth is a free 3-D computer mapping program for virtual views of earth. It provides satellite images and geographic information.
Google Earth offers teachers and students a valuable and convenient tool to access geographic information and current satellite maps in the classroom. Teachers and students can select from a range of views and overlays (e.g., political boundaries, population information, major roadways) to customize their map. Users can also add information “tags” to a city or place on the map (e.g., the Roman Colloseum) and create virtual tours and “flyovers.”
