Definition

A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output which can be enhanced with audio narration and other visual cues (e.g., arrows, highlighting). A variety of screencasting applications are available including Camtasia, Jing, Camstudio, Screenflow, Screentoaster, and Screencastle.

 

Features

Teachers can use screencasts to record a lesson or demonstration. The step-by-step video helps students understand the learning process. Students can pause and play the video again as needed. Teachers and students can also access a variety of screencasts created and shared by others online.
